LNG Market Forecasting for Terminal Feasibility Study
AWR Lloyd worked for an emerging Asian nation’s state-owned oil and gas group to help them understand the economics and dynamics of the LNG industry as part of a feasibility study for the country’s first LNG terminal.
The scope of work includes reviewing the international LNG market (natural gas supply, demand, pricing, market trend, liquefaction capacity, cost estimation) and the country’s gas market (national LNG demand and supply, industry structure and regulations). The work also includes building a financial model to analyze the need for LNG terminals in the short and long run. This involves developing assumptions for short term industrial gas demand, terminal storage demand in the long run, capex, utilization and turnover, throughput capacity and turnover.
Coal Market Entry and Trading Advisory
A large Japanese trading group asked AWR Lloyd to provide a focused study of Thai thermal coal imports now and into the future.
The client already had a fuel trading business into Thailand and wanted to consider entering the coal trade to Thailand. AWR Lloyd analyzed the current structure of thermal coal supply and demand in Thailand and provided an analysis of long term future demand and supply trends to indicate potential opportunities for market entry.

Mining Company Best Practice Valuation Analysis
AWR Lloyd conducted an evaluation of a multi-billion dollar Asian energy conglomerate’s share price based on DCF and market multiples analysis. The study revealed both a significant discount to fair value and to peer multiples. We conducted a parallel ‘Market Signals Analysis’ involving fund manager interviews to help assess the reasons for the discounts. We advised on potential takeover defense strategies and recommended group restructuring measures, a share buy-back, an ESOP scheme and improvements to the company’s investor relations disclosure and communication programme. We also recommended a spin-off of the company’s power business via a separate listing. The client has implemented some of our recommendations and is considering implementing others.
Real Estate Company Investor Relations Advisory
AWR Lloyd was appointed to help a listed real estate company in Thailand relaunch its investor relations programme after a period of internal rationalization and restructuring. AWR Lloyd helped prepare analyst presentations and press releases – and advised on investor and analyst targeting strategy. The client’s share price more than doubled in the space of six months and analyst research coverage went from zero to six reports with strong Buy recommendations.

Energy Storage and Fuel Cell Business Plan and Capital Raising
AWR Lloyd advised a Southeast Asian energy technology company over a number of years on the formulation of a global strategy to develop and commercialize its fuel cell and energy storage technologies. AWR Lloyd considered alternative applications including storage for wind and solar power, grid-based electricity trading and mobile electricity storage. We analyzed the economics of competing technologies and developed a long term business plan and strategy. We also provided a development-stage probability-based discounted cash flow and multiples based valuation of the company and its technologies as a support for raising funds and capital from government and private equity fund sources.
