Banpu launches smart energy business in Southeast Asia

On 28 August 2017, we took a big step towards our medium-term Greener, Smarter objective for the Banpu group with the launch of Banpu Infinergy.

The new subsidiary will initially provide one-stop solar energy solutions (rooftop solar systems, solar street lights and associated services and accessories) to factories, hotels, schools, petrol stations and other industrial customers. The innovative Signature Infinity customer package features zero installation investment, lower electricity costs and free maintenance for up to 25 years. We plan on rolling out 300MW of solar solutions in Thailand by 2022 in support of the Ministry of Energy’s Alternative Energy Development Plan.

Banpu Infinergy has also already launched an important parallel social responsibility program, Light & Learn, with the installation of solar systems at schools for hill-tribe communities with no electricity access in Tak province in Thailand.

Beyond this we are evaluating synergistic new business lines for Banpu Infinergy including business models relating to Energy Management Systems (EMS), Energy Storage Systems (ESS) and electric vehicles (EV).

This exciting new development builds on other Greener, Smarter initiatives including our new gas business in America and the growth of Banpu Power’s low emissions and renewables power generation portfolio in China, Japan and the Greater Mekong region.
