AWR Lloyd advises on sale of Vietnam pharmaceutical firm to Korea’s JW group

In 2019, AWR Lloyd advised the FIT Group, one of Vietnam’s fastest growing conglomerates, on the divestment of their shareholding in Euvipharm, a Vietnamese pharmaceuticals company,  to Korean group, JW Pharmaceutical Corporation. The transaction was completed in December 2019.

JW Pharmaceutical Corporation is a pharmaceutical company in Korea with core competencies in antibiotics, IV solutions, and anti-cancer treatments. JW Pharmaceutical Corporation is currently exploring targeted therapies in oncology leveraging the collaborative research and development strengths of the JW Drug Discovery Center in Korea and the JW Theriac Corp in the US. JW Pharmaceuticals is part of the JW Group which consists of JW Holdings, JW Pharmaceutical, JW Medical, JW ShinYak, JW Industrial, JW Life Science, and JW Creagene. 

Founded in 2005, Euvipharm was acquired by Valeant, Canada’s largest drug maker in 2013 and then by FIT Group in 2017. Euvipharm is headquartered in the South of Vietnam and operates state-of-the-art WHO-GMP standard factories. Euvipharm is now one of a few cases of a pharmaceuticals company which is 100% foreign-owned in Vietnam.
